Lifeguard – Parks & Rec (S)

 This seasonal position with the Parks & Recreation Department will work on an as needed basis and report to the Pool Manager. Requirements will include responsibility for maintaining patron safety and basic maintenance of the pool under the direction of the Senior Lifeguard or the Pool Manager. Work requires effective and accurate communication skills, responsibility, customer service skills, and the ability to work in a high stress environment.

Minimum qualifications include current certification with American Red Cross, YMCA, or nationally recognized Lifeguard certification valid in the State of Florida, CPR for Professional Rescuer and First Aid, and knowledge of the principals and methods of water safety. Minimum salary is $12.50 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.

Commercial Truck Driver II – Solid Waste (FT)

This position is semi-skilled work in the operation of heavy, construction, or truck vehicles. At a minimum, this position requires operation of a knuckleboom truck. An employee in a position allocated to this class performs a variety of heavy equipment operation functions in the support of the Solid Waste Department. Work generally follows standardized procedures but involves choice of action within clearly defined limits. Requires decision relative to the application of various established rules and procedures, which may affect quality, accuracy and safety.

Education equivalent to partial high school education plus one-year experience in the operation of large commercial trucks related to the positions; or, an equivalent combination of training and experience. Requires possession of a valid Class “A” or Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License. Must have the ability to obtain required licenses and certifications related to the job, as needed. Only experienced applicants will be considered. Salary range is $12.50 to $21.61 per hour based on qualifications and experience plus a generous benefits package.

This is a semi-skilled manual labor position that performs in a variety of adverse and uncomfortable weather conditions. Duties performed include general parks/grounds maintenance and repair, including but not limited to the following: picking up trash, mowing, weed eating, edging, blowing, trimming, pressure washing, painting, cleaning, and the inspection, maintenance & repair of facilities and equipment used.

Partial high school education and one year work experience in general grounds maintenance, commercial lawn maintenance or other related experience required.  Must possess a valid Florida Drivers License. Pay range is $12.50-$19.89 per hour, based on qualifications and experience, with a generous benefits package.

Ability to complete simple reports, count money and make change.  Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
