This fulltime advanced and responsible administrative position reports directly to the Extension Director and will perform a variety of office support functions to the department. Punctuality and attending work regularly are required. Functions are generally diversified and require judgments to apply broader aspects of established practices and procedures:

Program Support: prepares for Extension classes; marketing, developing fliers, registration, ordering supplies, room set-up and take-down, compiling evaluation data.

  • Manages grant reporting requirements and spreadsheets, reconciles bank statements, budget, travel, expenses, and card purchase transactions.
  • Schedules appointments and makes travel arrangements.
  • Maintains online databases (website, blogs) and social media accounts.
  • Answers multi-line phones, assists clients, customer service to internal/external customers, and works with volunteers and interns.
  • Processes mail, including newsletters, bulk mail, and operating postage machine.
  • Files office correspondence and records, ensures notices and related materials are properly distributed, and records meeting minutes.
  • Operates and maintains standard office equipment and county vehicles.
  • Record keeping and assists with inventory.
  • Attends training and staff meetings.
  • Duties as assigned by County Manager or County Extension Director.

Minimum qualifications; High school diploma or GED and three years of experience in secretarial or clerical office work. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher or Canva is also required. Advanced clerical and bookkeeping experience are recommended. Knowledge of social media, teaching/meeting platforms, website development preferred. Applicants must also possess a valid Florida Driver’s License and have excellent people skills. Rate of pay is $12.50-$21.61, depending on qualifications and experience, plus a generous benefits package.

This is a semi – skilled manual labor position that performs in a variety of adverse and uncomfortable weather conditions. Duties performed include general parks / grounds maintenance and repair, including but not limited to the following:  picking up trash, mowing, weed eating, edging, blowing, trimming, pressure washing, painting, cleaning, and the inspection, maintenance & repair of facilities and equipment used.

Partial high school education and one year work experience in general grounds maintenance, commercial lawn maintenance or other related experience required.  Must possess a valid Florida Drivers License.  Pay range is $12.50 – $19.89 per hour, based on qualifications and experience, and a generous benefits package.

Conservation Technician – Conservation District (FT)

This fulltime position with the Suwannee County Conservation District (SCCD) office, an agricultural partner between local farmers, ranchers, and producers as well as local and state agencies. The fulltime position works with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) to assist landowners with the implementation of Agricultural Best Management Practices (BMP) on the landscape.

Applicant must have a minimum of a High School diploma and four (4) years practical work experience in production agriculture or two (2) years practical work experience in production agriculture and an Associate of Science or Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture and must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License.  Candidate must possess good verbal and written communications skills, have a general knowledge of computer skills, be knowledgeable of BMP and agricultural water quality issues, be willing to work after normal working hours or on weekends to accommodate farmers’ schedules, and be willing to attend additional training on programs and information required for the position.  Rate of pay is $12.50 – $21.61, based on experience and qualifications, plus a generous benefits package.
