Permit Technician – Building Department (FT)

This fulltime secretarial and clerical position performs administrative and technical work in the building department; processes applications for building, and related permits; schedules and records building inspections; interacts with developers, contractors and public on related permitting and building issues. Processes applications for contractor registration, Issues power release to power companies, prepares various reports in accordance with Suwannee County codes and ordinances.

Minimum qualifications includes graduation from a standard high school or GED, with course work in general office practices, typing, business math, and related subjects. Two full years of full-time general administrative experience, preferable construction related. The ability to type and use a computer. Permit Technician Certificationi from the Internation Code Council is highly preferred. Applicants must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License and have excellent people skills. This fulltime advanced and responsible administrative position reports directly to the Extension Director and will perform a variety of office support functions to the department.   • Program Support: prepares for Extension classes; marketing, developing fliers, registration, ordering supplies, room set-up and take-down, compiling evaluation data.
  • Manages grant reporting requirements and spreadsheets, reconciles bank statements, budget, travel, expenses, and card purchase transactions.
  • Schedules appointments and makes travel arrangements.
  • Maintains online databases (website, blogs) and social media accounts.
  • Answers multi-line phones, assists clients, customer service to internal/external customers, and works with volunteers and interns.
  • Processes mail, including newsletters, bulk mail, and operating postage machine.
  • Files office correspondence and records, ensures notices and related materials are properly distributed, and records meeting minutes.

Minimum qualifications; High school diploma or GED and three years of experience in secretarial or clerical office work. Lifeguard – Parks & Rec (S)

 This seasonal position with the Parks & Recreation Department will work on an as needed basis and report to the Pool Manager. This is a semi-skilled manual labor position that performs in a variety of adverse and uncomfortable weather conditions. Duties performed include general parks/grounds maintenance and repair, including but not limited to the following: picking up trash, mowing, weed eating, edging, blowing, trimming, pressure washing, painting, cleaning, and the inspection, maintenance & repair of facilities and equipment used.

Partial high school education and one year work experience in general grounds maintenance, commercial lawn maintenance or other related experience required.  Must possess a valid Florida Drivers License. Pay range is $12.50-$19.89 per hour, based on qualifications and experience, with a generous benefits package.

This is a part-time position to work on a regular basis and will report to the Parks and Facilities Supervisor or designee.
